The Plays

Mary Parker Mystery Plays are suitable for the theatre, theatre groups, amateur dramatic groups or charitable organisations such as school PTAs. They can be staged very simply, with limited scenery, or you can go to town and create stage, auditorium, backdrop and even a few special effects, to suit the setting and theme. There are several suggestions on how to make the most of the scripts in the ‘Directors’ Notes’ for each play.

Each script comes with

  • a programme template
  • directors’ notes
  • optional fun activity sheets for the interval (with answers, where applicable!)
  • a script cover
  • a ‘credits’ template for showing off the names of your players and backstage helpers at the end.

Each play is designed to take 1 hour 50 minutes to 2 hours to perform, split into two Acts, and could easily be lengthened or shortened to suit your performance. The first Act is longer (1 hour 10 minutes to 1 hour 20 minutes) and the dénouement’ is enacted in Act 2. Suggestions for optional music and other ‘special effects’ can be found in the scripts.
